We are proud to announce that that Cheryl Brunet, RN, CHPN earned certification in hospice and palliative care from the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN). Cheryl achieved certification by demonstrating knowledge and skills in life-limiting conditions, pain management, symptom management, patient and family care, education and advocacy, and collaborative practice and professional issues. “Obtaining this certification was to show a commitment to our patients by having an in-depth knowledge of hospice and palliative care,” said Brunet. “When studying for this test it refreshes the knowledge I already had in hospice and palliative care as well as learning new information which helps to provide the highest level of care to our patients and their families.” The purpose of certification is to promote delivery of comprehensive palliative nursing care through the certification of qualified hospice and palliative professionals. “We are proud of Cheryl’s achievement and the commitment she has to providing the best care possible to our patients,” said Kent W. Brooks, CHPCA, Hospice of the North Country CEO. As Case Manager, Cheryl is responsible for providing skilled nursing assessments, planning, and care to maximize the comfort of patients and families. She will earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Her career has included nursing experience in emergency medicine, ambulatory surgery, post-anesthesia care, medical-surgical care, and family medicine. Cheryl has worked for Hospice of the North Country since 2011.
